God’s Good Pleasure, Valley of Vision, p. 222
O Sovereign Lord,
Your Will is supreme in heaven and earth,
All things are orchestrated by your hands
All beings are created by just the whisper of your voice.
You are the author of our lives;
Your instruction gives us understanding,
Your providence governs our steps. Continue reading
The Grace of The Cross
O my Jesus, I thank You from the depths of my being
For Your wondrous grace and love
In bearing my sin in Your own body on the tree.
May Your cross be to me
- As the tree that sweetens my bitter Marahs ,
- As the rod that blossoms with life and beauty ,
- As the brazen serpent that calls forth the look of faith .

Lord Jesus, I sin.
Help me that I may
never cease grieving because of my sin,
never be content with myself,
never think I can reach a point of perfection.
Kill my envy,
command my tongue,
trample down my selfish pride. Continue reading
The Dark Guest
The Dark Guest
O Lord, at beginning of repentance, I pray
Bend my hands or even cut them off…
These hands that should embrace you by faith,
yet how often they have struck you,
Curled in fists
hatefully driven by my wayward will
And My eye
My eye has a hidden desire to seek my fame in all I do;
to see my name in lights
And My heart
My heart sinfully worships created glory, worldly honor,
human wisdom, and the esteem of men Continue reading
Resting on God
O God most high, most glorious,
The thought of your infinite serenity cheers me,
For I am toiling and tossing, troubled and distressed,
But You are ever at perfect peace.
Your designs in creation cause You no fear or care of dissatisfaction.
Your works stand fast as the eternal hills.
Your power knows no bond,
Your goodness knows no end.
You bring order out of chaos,
You bring clarity out of confusion,
So all my defeats are all your victories, by which I always win
Now and forevermore, the Lord God omnipotent reigns! Continue reading
Blessed Lord Jesus teach me the Gospel Way that I might ever walk in it
No human mind could conceive or invent the Gospel,
Acting in eternal grace, you are both its Messenger and its Message,
- Living your life out on earth and displaying infinite compassion,
- Applying your life to insult, injury, and death,
- Giving your life that I might be redeemed, ransomed, and freed.
Blessed are you, O Father,
for designing this Gospel Way of grace to find a rebel like me
Eternal thanks to you, O Lamb of God,
for opening this Gospel Way grace so that my blind eyes could see it
Praise everlasting to you, O Holy Spirit,
for applying this Gospel Way of grace to my hardened heart.
Glorious Trinity, firmly press the Gospel Way of grace deep into my soul Continue reading
The Valley of Vision, “Christ The Word” – Pg. 17 (my paraphrase)
Help me Father,
In a world of created things, changeable things, moving parts, and swirling pieces
Christ remains unshaken. Word and Sacrament stand firm in the middle of the storm
Like a stone I rest on His sure foundation
I abide in Him and rest in Him for all my mercies are found in Him
He designed, He purchased, He promised, He awakened, and he is perfecting…me
