.
Apologies to all who disagree. I’m sure this list can be altered and improved upon, but this is a pretty good starting point. Understand that my criteria is
not
“the most
enjoyable
dude movies ever”
but rather
“the most
profitable
dude movies ever”
. Put another way, these are what I feel are the top 25 movies that every dude should see. I of course put Braveheart as #1. Who could argue with that?
.
.
.
1. Braveheart (The best dude movie ever made)
2. Henry V (Kenneth Branagh Crispin’s Day Speech is the stuff of legend)
3. Gladiator (My name is Maximus Decimus Meridius)
4. Passion of the Christ (The only masculine cinematic vision of Christ)
5. Cat On a Hot Tin Roof (Paul Newman says, “Things! Just things…not love”)
6. Shawshank Redemption (Hope is a dangerous thing.)
7. Last of the Mohicans (How a dude is supposed to love his woman)
8. Stand By Me (The best coming of age movie ever)
9. Schindler’s List (It’s like Spinach. You won’t like it, but watching it makes you strong)
10. 3:10 to Yuma (The way a father is supposed to love his son)
11. Hamlet (Mel Gibson is insane. Or is he?)
12. Crash (The best movie I’ve ever seen about racism)
13. Brian’s Song (Every Dude needs to cry every once in awhile)
14. Dumb and Dumber (Every Dude needs to laugh every once in awhile)
15. High Plains Drifter (Ask yourself a question: “Why do I admire this guy?”)
16. Saving Private Ryan (This movie will help you respect Older dudes)
17. Breakfast Club (This movie will help you understand Younger dudes)
18. Sense and Sensibility (You’ll hate it, but you need to watch it)
19. Tombstone (The best witty dude quotes ever in one movie)
20. The Green Mile (Gospel Analogy. Awesome)
21. The Sandlot (The best movie to watch with your young son)
22. The Little Princess (The best movie to watch with your young daughter)
23. The Unforgiven (No one is safe from the evil within)
24. Memento (a thinking dude’s movie)
25. Magnolia (A movie about how dad’s can screw up their kids)
* Not on the list but worthy of Honorable Mention: Big Lebowski, 300, The Godfather, Rocky, The War, Kelley’s Heroes, The Dirty Dozen, The Patriot, Tommy Boy, Lord of the Rings, Star Wars, Fight Club, and Legends of the Fall
Nice Post Meat Nugget,
Top 5 for me. Not in any real order but 5 good’ens.
1. Lonesome Dove (It was his pride that kil’t ’em.) Made for TV series.
2. Open Range (slow moving but a one liner city just like Tombstone with the most realistic gunfight I’ve ever seen… in a movie.)
3. Braveheart
4. Bourne Movies – Identity, Supremacy, and Ultimatum (dudes Bad-A!!)
5. M. Night Shymalan Movies – Signs, Unbreakable, Village, Lady In the Water, Sixth Sense. (A true artist with what he does and great story lines with real evil and redeeming themes)
6. The Natural (Pick me out a good one bobby)
7. Band of Brothers
Well, how about 7 with a few Honerable Mentions – Coen Brothers stuff (No Country for Old Men – one of the best villains I’ve seen in a while, O Brother Where Art Thou – one liner city, Raising Arizona…), Zoolander, Private Ryan, Nacho Libre.
So a question comes to mind after my post; do you see any re-occuring themes in the movies I chose?…maybe that I’m a dude..

Congratulations for not picking “the action” movie. There is really only one action movie. The editors just change a scene or two and show a few pictures of the star who, by the end of the movie, has been in 10 wrecks, fallen off 8 buildings and been in 6 fights to the death. Amazingly, he never breathes hard and has only a slight bruise on his face.
